Wildling Storyline

Anna spends her entire childhood under the care of a mysterious man she only knows as Daddy. He keeps her locked in an attic making her fear the Wildling, a child-eating monster that roams the outside. At age 16, Anna is freed by small-town sheriff Ellen Cooper who helps her start a new life as a normal teenager. But as Anna’s body begins to blossom, her childhood nightmares return with a vengeance, leading to the conclusion of a terrifying secret.

You’re not sick. You’re a woman.

Anna (Bel Powley) grows up locked up in a room by her daddy (Brad Dourif). After daddy attempts to pull a Budd Dwyer, Anna winds up in the custody of Officer Ellen Cooper (Liv Tyler) in a small upstate NY town. Anna fears the Wildling, a creature with sharp teeth, claws, covered in hair and eats children. Things are not hard to deduce early as Anna has acute hearing, loathes shoes, and eats only meat.

The film grabs your interest from the start. However the grip slips as the film moves beyond the point of no return. I would have liked to have seen her first response to television. She watches a computer like she had been around them her whole life. They needed a rewrite on that scene.

The world is out there

So if you watch the trailer (or read anything about this), then there is no twist for you at all. But even for me there really wasn’t. It was quite obvious what role/character the little girl would play, who is our main character. So while there might not be a surprise express rolling over you and you might see things coming way before some of the characters do, the journey is still very worthwhile, because it is told nicely.

Like a fairy tale really. But an old school, violent and explicit tale that is. So while this may not be super extreme either, it is still not for the faint hearted. If you are into mythological movies, you will find quite a lot that you’ll like about the movie (cinematography being one of those things). It’s a fun predictable ride then

all predictable but still worth picking up

I’ll be honest. I did like it even as it is a slow builder and isn’t frightening after all. It’s even a bit of a love story and yes, you can see it all coming frommiles away what is happening.

It opens great where we meet the wildling and the story is told about the wildlings. As said, it’s all predictable and you do know how it will end I did like it. The turning into the wildling is really welldone.

Acting above mediocre with a few thespians from the genre. Pick it up if you just want a no-brainer to start the evening.
