The Foster Boy Storyline

After the harsh regime in grim a rural Swiss-German protestant orphanage, obedient bastard Max (14?) hopes for a better fate when placed by the greedy minister in a foster home with the Bösiger couple. But the petty farmer takes out his frustration that constant toil never won him a decent living on everyone, and defenseless Max also becomes the punching bag for the the wife and their adult son, Jakob, who turned down a military career for the farm, yet is still treated as ‘lazy idiot’ rather then virtuous heir. The naive new school teacher Esther’s attempts to improve bright Max’s fate and encourage his accordion playing backfire, even worse after the Bösiger take in a female foster kid, Berteli. Her slighter milder fate embitters overburdened Max further, yet he alone stands up for her when Jacob becomes sexually abusive.

What is dis????

I was in school watching this. It was the most confusing movie i have ever seen. There was no build up to any plot. It made no sense there was so many ways that max could have beating the old aggressive man. The dude was passt out in the hay so drunk he probably could become retarded beyond retarded, max could have beat him up as revenge for the wrong doings the man did to him, but it was nothing. Best part of the movie was tho a class m8 said as joke ‘vo basel mit de schiff’ and it perfectly synchronized with max in the movie. Could not stop laughing for 6 min.

Disturbing

Not an easy watch. Great execution. Didn’t quite understand why the main character did not just leave earlier.

Realistic

Good movie about children’s heart. The movie plays emotions of 15 year old boy & girl.
