Kodachrome Movie Reviews

Pretty enjoyable!

Jason Sudekis is more of jerk in this than most projects but it’s still worth watching I love anything with him it! The dialogue is excellent and it’s crazy how stunning Elizabeth Olsen is she’s fascinating. I wanted to see Kodachrome years ago I don’t know why I didn’t sooner except that I don’t use Netflix much. I like the music it’s kinda sad and flows well with everything. Solid movie I’d probably enjoy more if I wasn’t going on 3 hours sleep.

Moving Pictures

Ed Harris – always great seeing him. And even when he plays a “bad guy”, you can’t help but be mesmerized by him. He really grabs your attention and he takes you on a journey. So you get why his son (in the movie that is) is torn when he gets a request from the dad who never had time for him. And why was that? Well you have to watch the movie to find out.

Also you have the son and his failing job, a broken private life and so many issues, that will get highlighted during the journey and duration of the movie. It is more than decent and the chemistry between the characters is just the right amount. Yes you will know where this heading and yes the outcome should be clear, even the twists shouldn’t really be surprising, but it is so well made, you probably won’t mind (I know I didn’t)

An emotionally charged father/son relationship study!

‘KODACHROME’: Four and a Half Stars (Out of Five)

The new drama about a father and son taking a road trip to Kansas together, in order to develop photos at Kodak’s last Kodacrhome lab ever before it closes. It was directed by Mark Raso, and scripted by Jonathan Tropper; the film is based on a 2010 New York Times article by A.G. Sulzberger. It stars Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris, Elizabeth Olsen, Bruce Greenwood, Wendy Crewson, and Dennis Haysbert. It’s received mostly positive reviews from critics so far, and it’s been released by Netflix through it’s streaming site. I really enjoyed it.

Matt Ryder (Sudeikis) is a music producer who’s in danger of losing his job due to lack of business. While trying to sign a popular band, in a desperate effort to save his career, he’s greeted by a woman named Zoe Barnes (Olsen). Zoe says she’s the assistant of his estranged father, Benjamin (Harris), and she also informs Matt that Benjamin is dying. He wants to take a road trip with Matt, to the last Kodachrome ever before it closes, to develop some important photos. Matt reluctantly agrees, despite the fact that he hates his dad.

The movie is an emotionally charged father/son relationship study. It’s similar to a lot of other dramas we’ve seen before, but it’s still really moving and beautifully touching (the visuals are also breathtaking to watch as well). The three lead performance are all really good too, and once again it’s great to see Sudeikis branching out and doing more serious dramas. I highly recommend it.
