This is an average movie that isn’t a complete waste of time but definitely isn’t a must see either.

Recently caught 30 Miles from Nowhere on Amazon Prime for free. Classic story of former college friends getting together after not seeing eachother for a long time for one of their friend’s funeral. They of course decide to stay together in their deceased friends home to catchup on old times. Of course it takes no time at all for weird things to start happening, people to end up missing, and questions to begin on if the friend is dead at all…while the storyline is cliche, the widow is great in this. The friends and script are painfully annoying, but the kill scenes are pretty good. This is an average movie that isn’t a complete waste of time but definitely isn’t a must see either. Worth watching for the die hards. I’d give it a 5/10.

Most unpleasant people

Honestly, the most unpleasant people I’ve ever tried to watch in a film. Plus,!!, the dialogue is often hard to understand, just rubbish. How this film gets anything beyond one star is a mystery, other than people involved in the production.

I’m not high enough for this

Professor Max Lehmann (Andrew Rothenberg) kills himself (1911 Colt .45) in the first scene. The funeral consists of former students who travel to be there. There are no colleagues present. His widow Sylvia (Carrie Preston) seems unaffected by the death of her husband. The former students stay in an A-frame home. It is October in Wisconsin in spite of the short sleeves.

Odd things start to happen as things go bump in the night. It’s all fun and games until…

I loved the characters in the film and the barbed banter. This is a different cabin-in-the-woods film. 30 miles from nowhere is a half hours drive and they do get Chinese food delivery, so how remote is that? There are micro clues dropped during the film.
