Gandahar Storyline

not typical sci-fi

I noticed this movie at a local rental place the other week and thought, ‘What on Earth is THIS?’

My dad has a book with 17,000 movie reviews–just reviews ranging from a sentence to a couple of paragraphs–and they gave it 2 1/2 stars–3 being good–so it was almost good (to them). They chastised the almost non-existent characterizations, which I agree; we’re given a character, we’re given about half a minute background on them, and then this is what the character has to do. I was surprised that they didn’t mention the almost non-existent voice “acting” (note the quotes), as everyone just pretty much mumbled their lines…even such a big talent as Glenn Close (playing the queen) didn’t help.

However, please note these are VERY minor gripes. I would’ve given the movie three stars myself. It’s not the typical sci-fi, with the stupidity of childhood geniuses and robots with feelings abound (and I don’t think the stereotypes of “oh no, it’s sci-fi AND a cartoon!” help either). It’s very imaginative, but pretty dark and apocalyptic; probably not for kids under the age of 6, if not 8.

And on a side note, there was some pretty good music in it, too, and a lot of it.

They Never Made Them Like This….

French animator Rene Laloux of “Fantastic Planet” renown, attempted to make another surreal sci-fi adventure with the 80’s “Ghandar” or as Isac Asimov and Harvey Wienstien decided to call it for those of us in the states “Light Years”, which since no… space travel takes place, and since the movie is about a fictional country called “Gandahar” is probably a bad title. “Light Years” I guess sounds more sci-fi-ish, and if this film was to succeed in the states(it didn’t) it was gonna need every bit of conventionality it could muster.

The story is a complex one involving the standard sci-fi tropes of eugenics, time travel, death, and utopia, and though it’s certainly more involved than most animated sci-fi (a good deal of the time were watching the characters talk), it’s really the visualization of the world and it’s inhabitants which makes this movie worth seeing.

Like “Fantastic Planet” before it, Laloux’s environments are some of the most alien that have ever been imagined. The landscape is often undulating Daliesuqe deserts, which strange trees which resemble simultaneously bodily organs and geysers, a young girl offering her breast to a new born who looks like a tapir, born out of a grown embryonic plant, a city of underground mutants who resemble Blemmyes, ancient African monsters with heads beneath their shoulders, an army hollow soldiers who turn people into statues, video camera like birds who can lift entire buildings in swarms, and of course a colossal mile wide sentient brain in the middle of the ocean.

Laloux uses sci-fi story structures to create, very evocative images that do not look like anyone else’s, ever, something few filmmakers in any medium or genre, can claim with straight face.

That being said the English voice acting is just decent, not great but decent, it keeps the story moving, but doesn’t draw you into any of the characters. “Light Years” like “Fantastic Planet” or the animated films of Svankmajer are more concerned with form than content, but not oblivious of the latter.

So if you like heady sci-fi, visually stunning design, and unique animation, this is not to be passed up. If not it’s probably not bad to see once anyway, just for the visual treat of it all, and the more I mull over the story, not the plot, I’m more impressed with how well and vividly it told me a story I’ve heard a hundred times before.

Truly original and forgotten classic…

‘Light Years’ is a work of sci-fi animation that really stands apart from the pack. In order to enjoy this film, one must have an appreciation of science fiction altogether. For those individuals such as Leonard Maltin, whom dismissed this movie as a pretentious ‘talky’ cartoon, you must understand that ‘Light Years’ tells a very human story about irresponsible inventions and ignorance in a completely ALIEN setting; this is the true magic of the film! I thought the dialogue was creative and the story was fascinating. The creatures and characters are beyond description, and the ending will blow you away. True sci-fi fans I think should dismiss Leonard Maltin’s review and rent this one!

Complete Garbage

I’ll be completely honest, my expectations were never high for this movie, although I did predict that it would be better than Sponge on the Run based on its premise. The prospect of getting to know Sandy’s family has always intrigued me, and I was hopeful that this movie would offer a deep dive into Sandy’s relationship with her family and potentially establish a character arc. Unfortunately, this film did not fulfill any of these expectations. Sandy’s family members are one-dimensional stereotypes who lack intriguing backstories of any kind, which left me feeling disinterested throughout all of the sequences featuring them. The movie also lacks a coherent plot, containing numerous scenes that are simply unnecessary or feel disjointed. Two of the most blatant examples are the snake gang and police chase scenes. Neither of these scenes do anything to progress the story forward in any meaningful way, leading me to believe that these scenes were written to distract the viewers from the bare-bones storyline. The cheap animation is another fatal flaw that this movie suffers from. Many of the scenes that take place in Bikini Bottom feel a lot like video game cutscenes due to the cheapness of the animation. The animation during Sue Nahmee’s flashback is also a complete embarrassment. The animators somehow thought it was a good idea to poorly photoshop Sue’s head onto a child’s body instead of hiring an actual child actor to do the job for them. Speaking of Sue Nahmee, I have no idea what the writers were thinking when they came up with her character. Nothing about her is appealing whatsoever and her motives are cliché and downright ridiculous. The way that Sue Nahmee is defeated is also abrupt and confusing, with her turning into a fish and virtually disappearing from the storyline afterwards.

Additionally, the live-action segments are cringeworthy and showcase everything that is wrong with Nickelodeon in its current state. None of the actors looked like they wanted to be there, and the entire thing felt extremely corporate and reeked of executive interference. Lastly, the film completely lacks any form of actual humor, with attempts at jokes, such as the one about streaming on demand, falling flat and contributing to the corporate feel. There is also an entire scene in which SpongeBob tickles the feet of people at the water park, which made me audibly cringe when I watched it. Overall, this movie is a train wreck and an absolute disgrace to the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. It lacks the energy of the first two movies and feels like a watered-down, corporate rendition of what was once a brilliant series. I am delighted to see that other users have been able to enjoy this movie, but personally it isn’t for me and I will certainly never watch it again.

Great Lego version of Jurassic Park!

It’s a beat by beat story telling of the first Jurassic Park. Some scenes are cut short but every memorable scene is in there. There are a few jokes thrown in every now and then making fun of the fact that they’re Lego characters – such as when Alan Grant turns Ellie’s head around, he actually turns her hairpiece around. Ha! The voice actors are not the same as in the movie even though Ian Malcolm does sound like Jeff Goldblum. You’ll definitely get some chuckles and smiles out of this short Jurassic Park movie if you’ve seen the real one. I wish the scene with the kids in the kitchen was longer though. At the end, Ian Malcolm hints at a retelling of The Lost World. I really hope that happens!

why does this exist?

Why does this movie exist? I thought it would be a comedy, maybe a parody of the source material? But no, 10 minutes in and have yet to see anything resembling comedy. It adds nothing to the original. Ian malcom (goldblums character) was a minor character in the original but takes center stage here, flexing for the camera, showing off how rich and famous he is, and narrates the entire movie but fails to tell one singular joke. You’d think he would at least TRY to be funny. This movie seems utterly pointless. It just reminds me that i would rather be watching the original.

They retconned samuel jacksons death in the film, too. His character apparently lives to the end to be a hero who reboots the park. As far as i can tell there was only one joke in the whole movie; a dinosaur steps on a lego, and it happened 15 min in to the 22 min feature. Pointless.

At Least Bugs and Lola Still Make an Adorable Couple

The story follows Lola Bunny who gets fired from a perfume store after destroying the store and failing to sell the store’s perfume. She decides to take a taxi home. That taxi driver just happens to be Bugs Bunny. When she gets home, she makes a perfume that makes people invisible. Cecil Turtle, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam and Lola’s former boss go after her and label her and Bugs as fugitives. And the adventure begins…

I’ve been watching The Looney Tunes Show and New Looney Tunes (formerly known as Wabbit) for the past few days to get my Looney Tunes fix and as a way to hold me over before the next batch of shorts from the HBO Max series comes out. The former is great while the latter is only okay. I also decided to watch this today after finishing the first season of The Looney Tunes Show, I figured I would watch this as a bit of an intermission. It’s… fine? It’s there and it’s amusing enough. The plot allows for a fun action-comedy to take place, but Rabbits Run is never quite as fun as it could have been. Some gags land and some miss the mark entirely. Please do not make me hear Lola say OMG ever again. However, Daffy kind of cracked me up with his inclusion. The animation is okay, but it can be a bit choppy at times. The songs made me ears bleed. Thankfully, there are only two songs, but they both are about as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard. The action scenes are amusing enough. There is a fight between Bugs and Sam that is pretty entertaining. The relationship between Lola and Bugs is the best part about the film. It is really cool seeing Bugs slowly warm up to Lola, despite her many faults. Speaking of Lola, she has her personality from The Looney Tunes Show here and if you have not seen it, Lola is a lot more goofy and bubbly there than in Space Jam. I feel like that persona worked better in the animated sitcom-oriented show than on this action-comedy adventure. She did get better by the end of the film, but she started off pretty irritating. Bugs Bunny is likable and funny, but I like him in just about anything. It is very hard for me to watch something with Bugs in it and find him obnoxious or unlikable. The voice acting is great. I prefer Kristen Wiig because her voice for Lola is just perfect, Rachel Ramras is a solid substitute. Jeff Bergman plays as Bugs and Daffy and he is really good. He also voiced Bugs in the two shows I mentioned above and I have always had a soft spot for his snarky take on the wisecracking rabbit. The rest of the voice cast delivers fine work. The musical score is okay, but a bit too frenetic. It fits well with the action, but it sounds a little too jittery.

Looney Tunes: Rabbits Run is a pretty average direct-to-DVD animated film. I think diehard fans of the shorts would strongly dislike this because of the fact it does not resemble the characters in their original form. Fans of The Looney Tunes Show will have a problem because the character personalities in that show don’t really fit the personalities here. What works in an animated sitcom does not really work in a movie that is essentially one long chase. Anyone else would probably be pretty bored aside from younger kids. It’s not that bad to be honest. There are certainly some fun moments and a couple of sweet moments between Lola and Bugs, but ultimately its a harmless time waster.

Has nothing to do with The Looney Tunes Show, sadly

I LOVE The Looney Tunes show, and have rewatched it several times – the episodes manage to make me laugh every time with their often absurd but well timed humor and quirky memorable characters. So imagine my surprise that I only found out a month ago that the show got a movie! I got to checking it out instantly… and was severely disappointed. Don’t take it the wrong way – the movie is by no means bad. It is a decent enough flick and certainly has a much more cohesive plot than most other Looney Tunes movies. A big plus is that unlike Back in Action or Space Jam, they finally understood that Looney Tunes needs no live action characters and stand on its own. The problem is, that despite the identical designs and many voice actors returning… this movie does not take place in the same continuity as the Looney Tunes Show. In fact, many characters have totally different roles than on the show, have widely different personalities, or in some cases, are totally absent altogether. In a way, it all reminds me of another big disappointment – Superman: Brainiac Attacks, which used the animation design of Superman TAS but without all the heart or good writing of the original. The plot is, in short, that Lola – who works as a perfume salesperson for Giovanni Jones – tries to discover the perfect perfume. She unknowingly uses a super rare flower for this, given to her by her landlord, Speedy Gonzales – but the flower has properties to turn everything invisible, hence both the government agencies, led by general Foghorn Leghorn with FBI agent Elmer Fudd, and two thugs with Cecil Turtle, want to take the perfume. Lola escapes in the taxi of cab driver Bugs Bunny, while being chased by all parties, including bounty hunter Yosemite Sam and Giovanni as well. It all turns into an international spy movie chase from here with cameos from Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, the Gophers, Pepe le Pew, and culminating on a showdown on Mars with the real villain, Martin the Martian.

What can I say, the movie just squanders the opportunities for good jokes. Lola isn’t the scatterbrained and super random lady we know and love from the show, she is too much aware of what is going on around her to be like that. Bugs is a bit satirical but again, not enough to be funny. The biggest problem is that the movie focuses on the two of them, and their budding romance, instead of the jokes, and many characters remain ‘blink and you will miss them’ appearances. The worst case is easily Daffy, who was the cornerstone of the show – here, his appearance is little more than an extended cameo, he soon drops out of the picture. Porky, Speedy, Yosemite and Foghorn and Cecil aren’t any better off, even in the short scenes they have, as their personalities are totally unlike on the show. Notably absent are many characters as well, most importantly Tina Russo, Daffy’s girlfriend from the show, as well as Granny, Sylvester and Tweety, Witch Hazel, Gossamer and Taz.

In conclusion, if you are unfamiliar with the show, you will find it an average quality Looney Tunes movie with a few jokes, nothing to write home about. If you liked the show though, you’ll be baffled why someone at WB made the decision to create a movie that looks exactly like it, but feel totally different from it. I cannot recommend it, really.

One of the better ones

I found this to have a lot of good vibes from the original looney toons and I liked the rather original plot! This quirky and adorable version of lola bunny is also my favourite, especially with bugs! I adore they kept the gun violence, the blunt mentions of insanity, and how bugs enjoys female clothing and accessories! So many characters tied well onto an single plot. I greatly enjoyed it and it is one of the better animated films I’ve seen. Totally recommend!

Enjoyable-enough film with great songs!

“The King and I” was one of the films we had in VCD that I grew up with. I decided to watch this movie again since I had nothing else to do and I felt like taking a trip back down memory lane. Before watching this movie, I went on IMDb and did a quick search on it. When I saw the 3.3 rating, I was really surprised! That may be my biased self talking, but really! I was surprised since this was one of my favorite films when I was younger. But after rewatching it, I don’t think this movie was THAT bad! Cut it some slack!

Most people are complaining on how they killed the original movie with this remake. I think this movie was targeted for children. Those who haven’t seen the original version. In my opinion, I think this film stands well on its own, with its great songs. I found myself singing along with a few of the songs (‘I Whistle A Happy Tune’, ‘Getting to Know You’ and ‘Shall We Dance’) which I remember from my younger days.

Some of the characters may have been unnecessary like Master Little, the elephant and the monkey, but its their antics that keep the young ones entertained. This film certainly isn’t the best one out there, but the songs are really great! The animation isn’t that bad, either! I can’t believe this movie got a 3.3 rating. Really.

If you have seen the 1956 version, you will be disappointed!

I have both versions on video, and I’ll admit the 1956 version is much better. I had mixed feelings on this version, but I hated most of the plot changes. Many important bits that worked so well in the 1956 version were changed and replaced with hackneyed plot-holes. The saving grace is the songs, and the singing is passable. The best is Christianne Noll, and Barbara Streisand singing in the end credits was a treat. Back to the bad. The voice talents were OK, but there were a lot of dodgy accents. Miranda Richardson does well, and her character animation is good too. Martin Vidnovic was trying to replicate Yul Brynner, and in no way did he succeed. Adam Wylie has a false English accent, that was shown when he was singing, because his American accent was heard. Ian Richardson is a really good actor, but I was expecting more from him. He had lots of really good lines, but his delivery just felt a bit OTT. The worst character was Master Little, who was funny for only ten minutes, and then the occurring joke about teeth wore thin far too early. Don’t get me started on the animals. they were cute at first, but they served no purpose at all to the plot, especially Moonshee. As for the animation, most of it was good, but why on earth did they animate a sea dragon and moving statues that were only there for a couple of seconds, I didn’t get it! As for the romance between Tuptim and the Prince it was so unnecessary, and the romance between Anna and the king was painfully underdeveloped. And why did they change the ending? The ending in the 1956 version was so poignant, and this one was pointless. In conclusion, only watch it if you haven’t seen the fantastic Yul Brynner version, otherwise you’ll be disappointed. 5/10 Bethany Cox

What a Waste of Time and Money

Having two younger children, I try to take them to movies like this, sight or review unseen, when I can. They, like most kids, have seen the violence, heard the profanity, and fell into the lowest common denominator of most movies being made today. That’s what makes this such a disappointment. I like to observe their reactions and their responses and not rain on their parades. But all they talked about when the thing was over was the guy who kept losing his teeth (remember that from the original Broadway musical?), and the mango throwing monkey. This is their memory of “The King and I.” Both my kids have visited Thailand and I thought perhaps this would bring up some of the spirit of that world. Instead, we have this exploitative mess that throws out most of the cultural issues and the dramatic impact for a supernatural villain (where did he get these powers? The King didn’t have any, other than incredible athleticism). And, of course, is there a movie around that doesn’t have a Martial Arts component? I know that kickboxing is big in Thailand but…. I am generally very accepting of the things that are put out there for the kids, but this was terrible. A message to the producers: “Please, please, please, leave Rodgers and Hammerstein alone. I don’t want to watch an interplanetary war version of “Oklahoma”!

A Great Kids Film

On my quest of re-watching every Monster High Movie and Tv show, This was the first one I choose to watch. Ever since I was six years old I’ve loved Monster High, lucky my Dad was a chill parent and didn’t care that Monster high ( a franchise made for girls ) was my favourite thing, now moving on to the review.

I believe MH: Escape from Skull Shores is one of the best ones, the animation and graphs are quite dated since it was released ten years ago. But the message is pretty simple, Don’t judge people on their looks basically. This movie also fuels the fan theory that Frankie was made of different parts. ( The theory is actually confirmed in the new live action movies. )

I digress, If you need a light-hearted kids movie with a good message, I would recommend this film!

Yet another intriguing Monster High movie. And another one that keeps you interested throughout. I loved it!

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this movie! Every part was exciting and fun. The story, and the characters plots, were all interesting. I felt connected to each character and even laughed at some moments. This movie was definitely much better than the last few.

Growing Up With Timmy Burton

Casper the Friendly Ghost is given the Tim Burton treatment in this computer-animated cartoon with a claymation look. The powers of cuteness and niceness triumph over the old-style order in which ghosts, vampires, mummies and so forth are sent to ‘scare school’ in order to learn how to terrify ‘fleshies’.

It is interesting that in the two decades since Burton’s askew vision of horror, as shown most clearly in BEETLEJUICE, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, and the animated features THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE Christmas and THE CORPSE BRIDE, that view has become mainstream to the extent that Casper the Friendly Ghost can be given the same treatment. However, the result here is viewer-friendly kiddie farce, eked out not with black humor but with puns and ‘adults make no sense’ jokes. The result is sporadically amusing, and children are likely to be entertained by it. but adults can give it a miss.

‘Casper’s Scare School’ arguably has the best plot of the four prequels/sequels, but remains hampered by the very poor animation – which, even for 2006, looks awful. I did recognise a few of the voices, including Kevin McDonald (aka Pleakley) and John DiMaggio (aka Bender). All in all, though, it’s another pointless production – and, thankfully, the last… at time of review, at least.

Well, it’s better than the others.

If the other Casper videos weren’t such a burden to my eyes, I’d have given them better reviews. Nothing beats the originals as well as the 1995 film. Here, the Casper series is given new light and the humor is actually well-tailored to balance that of the first film and little bit of the others. Not bad, and it’s good to see now and then, even if the continuity still is off base but… oh well, that’s Hollywood. On another note though, the animation is quite unique and calls for a different kind of review. I think it’s a little creepy, but then again what’s not to like about from the animation crew who worked on the other Tim Burton films? Not bad at all.

Great storyline and animation.

Monster Island is a great film because of its animation and unique story line. I love how the monsters are animated. I also adore the story line. It’s something I’ve never seen before.

Monster Island is about a boy named Lucas who’s a monster, but doesn’t know it since his dad hid it from him his whole life. His dad has given him a potion to stop him from turning into a monster by hiding it as an inhaler. When Lucas forgets his inhaler at home to go the biggest party of the year, he turns into a monster which scares everyone. Luckily, his dad comes to the rescue with his inhaler which turns him back into a human. His dad explains what’s happening and where he got his powers from. Turns out, they’re from an island called Calvera. Lucas goes on an adventure to find this island. But will he find it? Watch it to find out!

The animation reminds me of Frankenweenie and Coraline which are some of my favorite Halloween movies. Unlike Frankenweenie and Coraline, Monster Island is all computer animation. However, it looks like claymation. I’m fascinated by the attention to detail. Every monster is unique. There are squid monsters and humongous monsters who tower over people.

I love the characters in this movie. Two of my favorites are the two police officers. I love their banter as they try to catch Lucas, but always fail. I love how the pumpkin monster is the “brains” of their team while the deer head monster is the tough dumb one. They had me cracking up the whole time.

The message of this movie is to accept yourself. Lucas’ uncle tries to become a monster since he never became a monster. He felt left out because all of his family are monsters, but he isn’t. Although his family loves him either way, he still tries to find a way to become a monster through science.

I rate this film 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to ages 6 to 10. You can find this incredible movie online now so, go check it out. Available on YouTube, Google Play, Budi and more.

Interesting Effort

Sometimes a teenager feels like a monster and this is an entertaining movie that tells you about her and a secret fantasy world.

The animation seems a little rustic but it is a style of its own.

I caught the idea of trying to connect and assume its origin as a monster and find in its roots its own identity.

The story seems simple but I think it is ideal for boys if they want to entertain with the problems of puberty in an exaggerated way.

The animation is the weakest part

It certainly only caters for its target audience, though ‘Monster Island’ has its moments and I’m sure the young generation will like it.

The animation is the weakest part to this though, which isn’t a good sign in this genre. It’s very low budget, on the same level as the type you’d see in old video games. Some of the static bits are alright, but all the live stuff (weather, effects etc.) look pretty terrible. The most interesting character is Johnny Rose’s Norcutt, despite his under-developed motives.

Away from that though, it’s an OK film. The voice cast are acceptable, while the humour is probably pretty spot on for those it’s aimed for. I will say though, there is one scene which actually did make me chuckle; it involves Jessie J’s ‘Bang Bang’ song playing over it.

All in all a fairly poor film, mainly down to the questionable animation, but I reckon the intended age bracket will somewhat enjoy.

A good adapation that people are way too harsh on

Spring of Birth is the first in the series of anime films that adapt the story of Persona 3. I was worried when I initally watched it, about how they were going to take an overarching video game movie, and split it up into four 90 minute movies. The end result isn’t perfect; this first movie definitely has pacing issues. Specifically, it feels akin to a drawn out “set-up” prologue that just explains the world and what the hell things like the dark hour and shadows are. Which is basically what it is–this first movie adapts the first portion of the game’s story, up to the point when Fuuka joins the SEES. In an attempt to turn what would’ve been “exposition – the movie” into an a movie that can stand by itself, they put focus onto both the development of Makoto (the protaganist), an an unusually apathetic guy who doesn’t care if he lives or die, and the substory in Persona 3 surrounding Fuuka’s bullying problems.

They set up Fuuka’s bully issues with Natsuki, as well as the overgrowing issue that Makoto struggles to (or rather just can’t) feel emotions, as the throughlines of the movie. The two intertwine, and form a pretty decent overarching narrative that gets resolved by the movie’s end. The end result, while not perfect, works well enough, and results in a deeply entertaining adapation; it sets up the world of Persona 3 itself, and the base premise, while wrapping up it’s own internal conflicts, so that things to normality for the protaganists for the sequel.

Honestly, despite this being an unpopular opinion, this is my personal favourite film in the Persona 3 film series. Not only do I adore the way they adapted Makoto’s “silent protaganist” character, I also think the atmophere of the movie works extremely well. Fuuka is one of my favourite P3 characters, and her bullying issues; as well as Makoto’s character arch too, fit extremely well with Persona 3’s blatant symbolism surrounding teenage sucide (Persona users need to “shoot themselves” in the head with their evokers to summon their personas). All in all, it comes together to form a very decent movie, that is essentinally a “mean girl” bullying storyline set in a world full of supernatural goings on, where the bullying gets dragged into the events the protaganist & co. Are going through. It can stand on its own, seperate from both it’s sequels and the game it was adapted from. It’s far from the best written example of a bully storyline, but honestly, the relationship between Fuuka and her bully by the end of the movie legitimately touched me; not to spoil anything.

Honestly, I think people are too harsh on this movie. Most critics seems to focus on it’s slow crawl of the overarching P3 narrative, and either miss, or discard, the movie’s attempt at forming a complete story that deals with connected themes of suicide, bullying, mental apathy, and death; albeit one that is part of a larger overarching narrative.

I’d legitimately recommand this to anyone who wants a movie that deals with that kind of thing, even if they’re a none Persona fan. Just bare in mind that it’s story isn’t complete, as it’s one big overarching story spread over it and it’s three sequels.

It’s a fun first intro into the anime side of things but…

What on Earth is up with the script? There are painful transitions in the communication that just seem off. Like things were thrown together as quick as possible and made into a movie. Some characters will say something that will just make you want tilt your head trying to figure out what they were trying to accomplish with the character’s development or the scene in general. Other parts of the movie felt dry, slow moving, and cookie cutter. Altogether, these issues made some scenes a little painful to get through.At least we know things get better in the future (future anime releases)

Persona 3…more like super badass senpai the movie

Persona 3 the movie Spring of Birth is an anime adaptation of the first few hours of the game Shin Megami Tensei:PERSONA3…(duh).Ah yes,p3 the movie,which has caused the infamous name debate of the P3 character between the film and manga XD. I wont be covering the story too much because come on,if your interested in this movie,you already know the story of PERSONA3 in some form. Now if you have read the P3 manga,the P3 protag is a chill senpai,right?Well Spring of birth says Screw that!the protag this time is Makoto Yuki,and hes kinda…like a emotionless asshole to be honest (although he becomes more likable as the films progress).He even states ‘”i don’t care if i die”. The film follows the video game up to just after the empress and emperor boss fight,and has some extra screnes…like Makoto,being the motherfucking badass senpai he is,driving a motor bike into tartarus while summoning his persona! The film is quite faithful to the source material,and the animation is stunning,better then the anime adaptation of the PERSONA4 anime released a year or so before. So yeah,if you like persona,check Spring of Birth out!
